Bon Chance..Au Revoir...DO, do not not do...
Yea just found this randomlyOk, first off I have to say that this was my chill class of this semester. What I mean by that is every semester I choose a class that is for fun and has that very informal educational feel and this course filled that space for me. It was nice coming in every class and feeling comfortable to talk about everything and not be stressed with “Did I do this? Or Did I forget my homework at home? Or did I print that out?” you know, those kind of situations.
First, I was very happy with the discovery of the city through the tourist perspective. I am a newbie and the subject allowed me to discover the Met and the Jewish Museum for the first time, and I overcame my fear of the subway and walking around the city at night. Not only did I learn the system and several walking routes to campus, but I met pretty interesting characters along the way:) It’s been a great experience for me because I felt that I would hate NYC for the rest of my time here, but now I’m startin to love it…now;).
The readings I did not like (Sorry Steve) but talking about our blogs and the research on culture were my favorite parts. Through the work with Google maps I became familiar with the streets surrounding my apartment and campus. Music was my favorite blog. I discovered Carla Bruni, who I learned is the first lady (Thanks Steve), Anais, and Sheeduz. Hopefully, I can get to see them perform. Food was interesting. I did not like the restaurant I went to, but due to the diverse culture in France I pray that I will find something that fits my taste, and not starve to death!! All I know right now is that I love the baguette, but one cannot live on bread alone;).
Also, I was a little nervous about the smoking. Does it count if I tried hookah for the first time the other day, interesting enough it wasn't that bad:) For my asthma yes, me no. Although the ban is great for me, not so much for the café and hookah business. I am not looking forward to the supposed paying to use the bathroom, which I believe should be a violation of human rights. I should be able to use the bathroom when I need to! Nevertheless, I am excited to be going to Paris. I want to do the tourist thing (visit Versailles and “capture the moments”), but I am also I traveler at heart and I WILL discover my own Paris. My perception has not changed significantly, I just feel more informed on the current situation there…But other than that I CHOOSE not to expect anything. Most importantly, I want to learn more about the people and their cultures. Although everyone is saying it’s difficult to make friends there, I firmly believe anything is possible. That goes for the good and bad, but let’s hopes this is a positive experience. If anything, I know it will be one way or another.
The World is Yours;)All in all, I learned an experience is what YOU make of it. Discover, DO NOT follow. Do not expect anything. Whatever happens, happens. Enjoy life and whatever comes with it, the good and bad. Do not be afraid to try anything new. Take a chance on something you don’t usually do, whatever that may be. No matter what you learn, try to learn something new every day, even if it just about yourself. Bon Chance to everyone wherever you are going or doing. Hopefully, I’ll see some of you blog next semester. Be safe, be happy, and have fun;). God Bless..

Oh Eli, I'm so glad you liked
Oh Eli, I'm so glad you liked this class (and coming from another picky eater, you can survive on a baguette for a VERY long time!)
