If you're looking for an internship in architecture and planning, here are some opportunities worth a look:

New Yorkers for Parks (NY4P) is an independent watchdog for all the city’s parks, beaches and playgrounds. In the summer of 2009, interns will participate in a combination of fieldwork and office work.   In the field, interns will conduct park inspections throughout the five boroughs for the Report Card on Parks project.  While in the office, NY4P interns will spend time conducting research on park policies such as athletic field permitting, park vendors, and park usership.  Interns must be well versed in Microsoft Office and web-based research. GIS experience helpful. Qualified candidates will either have completed or be working on a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, community development, urban planning, public policy or a related field. This is a paid, part-time internship beginning in June. Please send a cover letter, resume, and references to Alyson Beha, Manager of Research & Planning, abeha@ny4p.org.  More

The Lower East Side Tenement Museum, one of New York City’s fastest-growing and most innovative history museums, seeks an energetic and hardworking individual with excellent organizational, research, and communication skills for an unpaid summer internship in the Museum’s Development Department.   Tasks to be performed will include large mailings, filing, data entry, prospect research, and other administrative tasks in connection with institutional and individual giving, membership, and special events. This position is ideal for someone interested in gaining experience at a non-profit organization while working with different members of the Museum’s development team.

Construction and Horticulture Internship at the New York Restoration Project. Looking for someone with the desire to learn more about landscape construction and urban horticulture by assisting our Construction and Horticulture Department in the implementation of capital projects throughout New York.

Friends of Brook Park in the Bronx is a land based garden and waterfront park that provides one-of-a-kind spaces for artists and a supportive venue for showing cutting-edge work.

The Van Alen Institute: Projects in Public Architecture seeks a digital media intern. Van Alen Institute (VAI) is an independent nonprofit architectural organization whose mission is to promote inquiry into the processes that shape the design of the public realm.
