Lord of The Rings Par IV

  • 1. Travel Story

Tallahassee isn’t a big town. Of the ten or so buildings that rise above three stories, only three struggle past fifteen stories, and the highest point-the state capital-is a twenty story phallic symbol, which is fitting considering the man who ran our state had a similar nature.
I’m lucky, and I suppose most of you can identify with this, that I was brought up in a family that had the money and the good sense to send me places that have profoundly influenced the way I see things. Ironically, when recalling my most important moments of travel, my mind finds itself back in my own home town, seeking out good music (everyone has their own definition), some house party on campus (tally has two different colleges), or maybe just going to Waffle House at 2 am. I can’t be the only person that’s done that. And anyone who has can say that it’s always an experience.
But back to the point. Driving home at 2 am teaches you your limits. Venturing into a shop or a venue that you’ve never been to before takes courage. The restless feeling you get that tries creatively manage broke, leading to trouble or adventure or whatever—all that traveling was part of finding a balance.
My childhood life wasn’t super-amazing though I enjoyed it the right amount. If I sound haughty or high-up I apologize. Bragging doesn’t have anything to do with this. I hope you empathize—I’m sure many of you went through almost exactly the same thing and that’s the whole point of this-- with those feeling, especially now that most every travel is our own.

Ypsilanti Phallus Tower: Ypsilanti Water TowerYpsilanti Phallus Tower: Ypsilanti Water TowerI can really relate to this post - the phallic symbol part, I mean.

Check out the popular postcard of the Ypsilanti Water Tower that I have attached to this comment.

yeah its something to be

yeah its something to be proud of--the towns inside joke. Jeb Bush used to work there. And there they gave the election to George Bush in 2000. I'm not overly political, and usually i wouldn't mention it, but it is a way to remember the city, and we do try to live up to our image.

but that might have been an accident, becuase the buildings wer put in pace at different times. whoever built that lighthouse-idk, he either had a great sense of humor and small town pride or connections in the postcard bussiness...
