Our classroom does not have four walls

I enjoyed the course very much, because it gave a change of pace from my other courses. This was a much more culturally directed course than my other classes and I think that it’s important to spend some academic time thinking about these things especially when abroad.
Having taken Travel narratives I can say that I was used to the blogging format, but I had difficulty remembering to keep checking in to do my blogs. Compounded with computer and internet problems, staying on task was nearly impossible, but I don’t feel like that hurt the objectives of the class. In fact I think having post-dated blogs appear sporadically helped me remember some of the themes and issues with living abroad throughout the semester.
I think my biggest problem was having inconsistent entry dates. If I checked the site on Tuesday or Thursday and then suddenly on Monday I had missed one blog and there was one due the next day, I got a bit frustrated.
My only suggestion is that maybe there cold be a more fluid syllabus where there are a choice of a certain amount or type of entry and the student is able to choose which one to do each week. Also a larger heads up on the next assignments might help. Though clearly even though that happened these last few weeks, I did not respond accordingly.
Great class, loved being able to take time away and think more abstractly about the place I am in, also reading good books is always a pleasure, couple that with real critical thought and you’ve got gold.
