Who Are We Looking For?

JOB DUTIES:

All interns will have the opportunity to experience multiple phases of a small business operation, as well as general office and clerical duties. The following list includes general duties all interns will be performing: 

  • Assisting Office Manager
  • Assisting with or Managing Projects (see below)
  • Proofreading
  • Writing
  • Researching
  • Answering Phones & Customer Service
  • Monitoring & Responding to E-Mail
  • Running Errands
  • Preparing Packages
  • Making Copies
  • Faxing
  • Filing
  • Any Other Office and Clerical Duties

DURATION:

Minimum 3 month internship.

SCHEDULE:

Must be available to work at least 18 hrs. per week broken into two day shifts. Office hours are 10am-7pm Mon.-Fri.

COMPENSATION:

 

  • This is an unpaid internship.
  • Travel expenses will be reimbursed up to a maximum $10 per day.
  • Letter of recommendation will be given upon successful and satisfactory completion of internship.
  • School credit, based upon the criteria of your school.

Job Description 
During this internship, students will: 
-Be exposed to many different facets of PR through constant interaction with agency's Managing Director, Senior Media Specialists and Account Executive; this includes, but is not limited to: media relations, corporate PR; intern will learn how each type of PR interacts to shape a company's media image 
-Develop a deeper understanding of how American media operates 
-Acquire and hone strategic development and research skills necessary for drafting proposals and PR plans 
-Become familiar with daily operations of a PR firm and learn how to be part of a fast-paced team 

The above will be reached through training, development, constant feedback and participation in a variety of media relations related tasks such as: 
-Campaign research 
-Pitch development 
-Media monitoring 
-Database maintenance 

Potential exists to take on increased responsibilities as reflective of the intern's progress. 

Requirements 
Potential interns must be able to commit to at least 2 full days per week for a period of approximately 3 months.

We are currently seeking writers located anywhere in the world to to research information on Madrid and write re-write guidebook articles. Interns who have lived or worked in Spain are invited to submit feature articles for publication as well. 

We also seek marketing interns to generate links to our site, send PR releases, and seek out new partner sites. 

Interns will work from home, be very independent, and provide weekly reports on their progress. Interns should be in college or recents graduate.

Spring, O'Brien is a mid-sized integrated marketing firm representing travel, tourism, finance, real estate and economic development clients. 

The Travel PR group is seeking an undergraduate student majoring in public relations, communications, marketing, or related fields and fluent in both written and spoken English for a Fall 2008-Spring 2009 internship starting in November or December 2008. During this time, the intern will be fully embroiled in the day-to-day workings of the Travel PR department. Specific duties might include: drafting pitch letters and press releases, assisting with media requests, handling production and maintenance of press kits, maintaining photo library, developing and updating distribution lists, plus administrative duties. This internship is for school credit only and the agency staff will also work with the student to fulfill reporting requirements. Hours are flexible; ideally we are looking for 10-20 hours a week. The ideal candidate will be proactive, eager to learn and able to juggle multiple projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is also required.
