10. Culture

  • Art of Travel Assignments

Post by Oct. 31

Back in New York, I'm starting a new course called "Abroad at Home," in which twelve students will be blogging about their preparations for studying abroad in the spring semester.  You can see their blogs on the website by going to Blogs > Abroad at Home.  If you go to Classes > Abroad at Home > Assignments, you can see all the blog topics they'll be doing.  Look them over and for your next blog post, choose one of these assignments.  For example, write about the music of the place you're studying, or write about a trip to a museum or some "touristy" activity, or do something with maps and the experience of getting oriented in a new place, or watch a movie set in or made in the place you're living, or write about how your place is represented in photographs, tourist brochures, travel posters, etc.  Do the reading that goes with the assignment in the Abroad at Home course, and incorporate it into your post.

As always, post an image and write a comment on someone else's post.
